The "Red Book"

Bicentennial Quilt red album and visual guide.jpg

The 1976 Bicentennial Quilt project was documented in a red photo album. The album is kept with the quilt and includes a description of each numbered quilt square.  Press clippings related to the buildings or events depicted in the quilt square were also preserved.

The album contains correspondence and newspaper clippings about the project, as well as photographs of the quilters and the quilt as it was being made.  The "Red Book" was scanned and reproduced in its entirety.

In addition to the quilt, a visual guide to the quilt was produced. The guide includes an image of each quilt square with a numbered entry.
